Johnson said Giedgowd will not have to undergo surgery.

Brown’s half-brother suffered cuts and bruises, according to newspaper reports.

Instruction for Copying Recordings off iPod

Make sure to bring your iPod, microphone, and USB cable. Then plug into side of Dell monitor.

1. Before you come to lab make sure to "Enable disk use."
a) Open iTunes
b) Edit->Preferences

c) Click on iPod tab
d) If you have "Manually manage" then disk use is already enabled and should be greyed out like below or if you have "Automatically update" then check "enable disk use."

2. Open My Computer -> Open iPod --> Open Recordings

3. Drag and drop the .wav files onto the desktop.

The panel was great. It was entertaining and funny at times. The best part was Microsoft's panelist who said "I don't read past the first bullet on your resume." And the panelists agreeing that not only do they usually not read cover letters, but "[cover letters] can only hurt you." It's great to be in the technology field. Otherwise, I would probably need to worry about those damn cover letters.

I was reading a post on how to make a taser from a disposable camera. And this reminded me of a long time ago when Jamie and I figured out how to do this. So we found a disposable camera on the ground at Bogey's , and we decided to break it to use the capacitor to shock people. It was great fun. I think Caroline Capstick was there. If you are reading this and remember getting shocked or being there let me know.

"To make an extremely cheap taser all you need to do is take apart a disposable camera and keep the green card. Then put a wire on the little metal part that sticks out next to the capacitor (the black thing), and put another wire somewhere else (just about anywhere will do as long as it touches metal). Also the two wires that connect capacitor to the rest of the camera are quite good. To charge the taser just press the button that charges the flash. It is a good idea to put tape over the rest of the taser so you don't shock yourself. This taser won't be anywhere near as good as a professional one but it works." - totse.com

Amazing, my brother, Chris, has already graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Four years has flown by already, and I am not letting my fourth year go by without taking full advantage of all the opportunities that I can. The graduation was surprisingly short. On Saturday was the ceremony for Finance and Economics and all those grads walked on that day. Today, the ceremony was the commencement for all grads and only the PhD's walked and other colleges were recognized. The speaker, Bill Geist, was funny and entertaining. Seeing my aunt and grandparents was great too since I almost never get to see them anymore. It was a good family time.

Exams, Moved Out/In, Myrtle

Exams as over and so is moving. Myrtle is done with and concludes another year at Duke. Three years have already flown by so quickly. Exams went great and my grades were actually very satisfying for the first time in a long time. There is something about the finality of moving out and seeing the room that I've lived in for the last year completely empty. This year is not as sad because I am doing research at Duke with the CS Dept. So I will be around for the summer and so will a lot of friends.

I am living in Erwin Terrace for the summer above Chai's with Ty and Derek. It should be lots of fun. I moved everything in and the apartment looks great.

Myrtle was a great time, but last year's was better. Not in terms of partying or anything, because this year the weather was great. I got more drunk and passed out on the beach. It was pretty awesome, but unfortunately there were less of my friends there so it was kinda sad. But thats okay. Maybe next year.

Avoiding the Dishes

John wants me to clean the dishes, so I'm blogging instead. I know great idea. Thanks! Anyways, John's gf Allie has an agent 'cause she was a model for Abercrombie. That reminded me of the time that my friend Erin found a picture in a magazine that looks exactly like my best friend Jamie. This picture is a scan from the magazine. Crazy right? Well not if you don't know what he looks like...but yeah. His own mom was convinced for a while.

LDOC was a good time. I hung out in Mirecourt, visited Beta, played March Madness with my pal Charlie, then we (Charlie, Emma, and me) went over to West to hear Collective Soul. I met up with Shannon after some texting to locate each other. I lost Charlie, Emma, and Caroline for the night, but it was a good time. I watched the rest of the concert with Shannon. John went Cat's Cradle to watch Straylight Run with Allie that night, which is whack 'cause that wasn't free and Collective Soul was. Good night though.

I have updated my blog with pictures from the last couple months. The pictures include our fabulous picnic table that we "borrowed" from outside and the picnic, pics from Easter, pics from George giving a speech (scary, I know).

Anyways, it is the last day of classes today. My junior year of college is coming to a close. At the end of the year I will give more of a full reflection of the entire year, but right now I will talk about today and things that have happened.

Today was a typical Wednesday, I had my IP class and we finally did our presentation. It went over well. I showed the "Don't Copy that Floppy" video, I think people liked it. We had bagels as usual. Duvall came in and watched our presentations, which was different cause he never comes to the class. But he had his Powerbook with him and Astrachan kindly reminded him of the Jinghui Rule (no laptops in class, explained in an earlier post).

Then we had 108, which was boring, Duvall showed a bunch of code and made fun of some coding and logic that "is something a CPS 6 student would write." After class we did evaluations in both classes. I gave pretty good ratings, hopefully the teachers give me good ratings at the end of year. I even took the evals to the office in 108, second time I've done that (first was in Chinese 2). After 108, we discussed the paper deadline with Astrachan. Then we got off topic as usual and talked about Tiger (Mac OS X.4). Then Duvall came in and said Astrachan should be defending him right now. So Astrachan left and we talked with Duvall about XOOGA. The next week of my life will be solid coding, paper writing, and studying for 2 finals in 104 and 130.

Tonight, I plan on getting wasted and going to watch Collective Soul, who is the LDOC band this year.

Woohoo Friday! I stayed up too late playing video games with Sumesh, Charlie, and George last night. But at least I got them playing as a team in March Madness, I really am a great coach and point guard. Alas it is a video game and not real life, or else I would have a job that was fun. On the bright side this week I finished SPIMulator, the bane of my existence for the last couple weeks (stupid lack of unsigned ints in Java delayed our project success). Now all I have left is XOOGA and P2P Research Project. Then on to final exams CPS104 and CPS130.

Today I had to wake up at 8:00am for my IP class with Astrachan and when I got there he told me that we weren't allowed to use our laptops anymore. BOO! Not only that but it was because of Jinghui and her stupid comment about "why is everyone looking at me?" Well she was talking and addressing the class, but incidentally the Wifi was down that day so we also had nothing better to do. But on the bright side, since I was working on a Powerpoint presentation for class, Astrachan let me continue using my laptop. But then we didn't even get to present today because the other 2 people that presented before us too forever and were super-boring.

So we went onto CPS108, we(Sumesh, Chaz, Amrith, and Michael, who was late!) presented our Breakout code to Duvall and the rest of the class. People were nodding at me, giving me thumbs-up, clapping, and winking. It was craziness. Then Duvall showed old Atari commercials and then we had a brief discussion of pros and cons of various designs presented. Afterwards, we waited to discuss with Duvall, but another group wanted to talk to him and we had to wait like 20mins.

Then I left to go to make up a PE weightlifting class and there was no coach or sign-in sheet. So now I probably need to make up another one.

CPS 130 again

I'm bored in CPS130 again, but this time Charlie is to my left and Georgiana is to my right. So at least I'm not lonely. The food at the Blue Express was good today, they had tilipa over rice. Today's SIOC had Matt Brooks on the inside cover. Georgiana did listen to me and switch to Thunderbird, just like Charlie did. Charlie also has a smoothie with him, how untypical. He did get a haircut though. I bet Emma made him.

John went to Bojangles with Allie today and skipped 130 for like the...lets just say he has skipped a lot more than he went to. He also asked to drive my car, but I'm pretty sure he didnt take it. I can't be sure cause I went to sleep. But he wasnt there when i woke up and my car was.

Also i think Doogie Howser was like the first blogger. Isn't that crazy?

Well I'm in CPS130 right now and Professor Reif is super boring as always. The only reason I came was to get my test back 'cause the ugrad TA said Erik was going to give them back today. This is the first class I have been in with John since frosh year. But since this dude is so boring neither Charlie, nor John come. His slides always have like 20 colors and I wish I were color-blind so they would all look the same.

On another note I am sick b/c of John and his girl, Allie, leaving germs all over the room. I had to stay up late (4am boo) to write my second paper for CPS182s too. So with the paper, daylight savings time, and germs I am sick and my sleep is messed up. Basically school sucks right now and UNC won a national championship. BOO!!
